Cowboy Burgers

As you all know one of my hobbies is collecting recipe books and trying new recipes. I found this recipe over at http://thepioneerwoman.com/tasty-kitchen/. I made them for dinner last night and they were a hit. When i can find something that everyone will eat i love it. That doesn't happen very often so this one is going in my book. To get the recipe head over to Robyn's Recipes at http://yumbelievablerecipes.blogspot.com/.

Lessons from our teenager

We have such a wise and knowledgeable teenager. He is always teaching us something. This weeks lesson was "How to not piss your teenager off" (his words not mine). He was even nice enough to make us a list for the fridge just incase we forgot. How considerate of him.

1. when no one will take him to the gym, but tells him he is getting fat.

2. when his dad tells him you don't need a gym membership to work out (it makes me feel stupid)

3. when his dad tells him he has to put his phone away or he will take it... (even when it's youth conference and is suposed to be fun)

4. when someone says, "You better....".

5. when his dad lectures him on going to mutual and fasting and tithing.

6. when someone talks to him in a condesending or disrespectful tone.

SPRING BREAK

Spring Break went by so fast. We had a busy week. We went to Monticello Utah for Grandma Dalton's 90th Birthday. We also went down to the ranch for an Easter egg hunt and a picnic. The kids had a great time and even got to feed a bottle to a baby calf, whos mama abandoned it.

We also got to see the ancient indian ruins at the Mesa Verde National Park in Coloradao. WOW was it an awesome sight.

We also went to the Coral Pink sand dunes with the Mohler's. Unfortunately for my family i got sick and we had to leave early. Gary and Sheila wanted to do a grandchildren picture since we had every one there. It is quite the production and i understand why we haven't had one in a while. To see the event click on the link below. Hannah Mohler (top left) made every girl cousin a pink tye dye shirt that said "Dirt Chicks" on it and had each of there names on the back! I love that idea and don't they all look so cute in them?!

HAPPY SPRING BREAK!

Just thought i would share a little something with you and give you a laugh to start the new week. This picture is of Stewart's gross toe nails that haven't been clipped for probably close to a year. He told us he needed new shoes because his were to tight when really those toe nails were sooo long they made his shoe size go up a few. The picture is pretty gross but the video of me cutting his toe nails was pretty funny! Have a great week!!

Highlights of the week

Travis has finally finished a Cabinetry project he's been working on and someday i hope he will take a picture for me to post so you can see his awesome work!

I had a girls weekend. No hubbies or kids just mom's and sisters and our many projects. I finally finished my pear quilt. Yahoo!
Kenady got to go see the movie "HOP" with her cousin Sydney for her birthday and also got to go see the Easter Bunny at the park.

Logan finally earned enough money for a basketball that he has been wanting. Unfortunately it hasn't come yet. The poor kid walks to the mailbox everyday hoping it will be there.

Stewart has learned a new trick on his bike. Its called a 180 half cab.

To check out his cool bike trick on video click below.

Swimming in April?!

For the last few weeks Logan has been begging me to go swimming. I keep trying to explain to him that even though the weather has been warm for a few days the pool temp is not warm yet but the begging still continues. I decided i had had enough and said, "ok go put your swimsuit on. We are going swimming." Kenady decided she wanted to be included also so off we went to grandma and grandpa mohlers house to prove to my children it was to cold. We'll my plan backfired. I had forgotten that children adapt to things better than adults. I remember being a kid and not having the cold or the heat bother me and now I can not imagine trying to get in the water this early in the year. I have a hard time in june and july! Oh to be a kid again! They had so much fun and i had to pry them out of the pool. I guess we better go buy some swimsuits! Logan and Kenady have also started a blog.

I'm Back!!

Thanks to Alot of guilt from my sisters and others i have decided to start journaling again. It has been almost 1 1/2 years since my last post. Pretty sad right?! Alot has taken place in that time and i am kinda sad its missing so i will do a quick run thru of each peep in the house so you can see where everyone is at.

KENADY is in 2nd grade and just turned 8. She was Baptized March 5th and did a great job. I am so proud of her.

Kenady has really turned into our drama queen. Some days we just stop and look at each other not sure how to react to the drama coming from such a small person. She also has her sassy side and loves, loves, loves justin Bieber. For her Birthday i took her and some of her girl friends to see the movie "Never say Never". Can i just say i wish i could of had a video camera follow us around that night because these girls were hilarious. I think the pictures says it all.

LOGAN is in 4th grade and is our little straight A student. He has never had a B in his school history. I hope it always comes easy to him. i have 1 word for Logan. Basketball. He eats, sleeps and breaths it. He wakes up in the morning and gets ready for school. He plays basketball until its time to go to school. He goes to school and plays basketball until the bell rings. After school he goes to basketball practice for 2 hours. After practice he comes home and plays basketball until it is to dark to see. He then comes inside and tells me all about basketball and watches some on tv with dad. The next morning he repeats the whole process . He is obsessed with it but there are worse things he could be doing so its ok. The picture below is what Logan's hands looks like everyday after practice.GROSS!
STEWART has had the most dramatic change in the year and a half. It is really funny to see the faces of people who haven't seen him in a long time. The 1st thing they always say is "He looks sooo much like Trevor!" He has grown up up and has really thinned out. I now have to look up at him, weird! I contribute most of it to his love of biking. I love that he is passionate about something but i don't love all the accidents and doctor visits it creates. He and his friends have started montaging all there cool bike tricks. He is actually pretty good at making montages. I will have to post one in the near future. He started High school this year and it is really making me feel old. The hormones have kicked in and he goes from one minute loving me to the next minute he hates me and then 10 minutes later he loves me again. Having a teenager i am learning is really exhausting!! I miss the days when his biggest worry was whether he should have pizza snacks or mac n cheese for lunch or what toy he was going to play with that day. I am understanding grey hair so much more now. wahhhh!

I am pretty much doing the same thing as i was doing a year and a half ago. I am still teaching preschool and loving it. I have been on a organizing kick right now. I just finished gutting my pantry and painting every inch of it. Travis designed some lazy susans for the corners and i reorganized everything so i could actually find things. I love it now! sometimes i go stand in there just to admire its cleanness. On to my next room. Maybe the downstairs bathroom?!

AFTER:

Travis is a busy man. When he's not at work he is busy being young men's president or moving someone in the ward or doing some kind of service for others. He is also doing a few side jobs right now. Maybe i can get him to take some pictures of his work when he is done. He likes to take the boys shooting a few times a month and just got Kenady her very own gun for a Baptism gift. You can imaging the horror on my moms face when he pulled it out. He is also waaay into Basketball. If he's not watching it on tv or going to the rebels game he is playing it with the guys at church usually until 1 or 2 in the morning. CRAZY!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

This year Halloween was alot of fun. I wish it could be on Saturday every year. We had the whole day to celebrate. We started off with pumpkin carving. I was surprised at how great they all looked especially Kenady's pumpkin. The only thing i helped them do was the tracing. We even saved all our seeds and roasted them. Yummy!

Next we made philly cheesesteak sandwiches and watched Monsters vs. Aliens movie. After we made sugar cookies and decorated them. The kids made cute pumpkin and bat shapes and i forgot to take a picture of them but they were really cute. We went and booed grandma and grandpa stewart with a plate of them but we got caught. We aren't very good at booing people.

After making cookies the kids got ready to trick or treat. Stewart was a vampire, logan was a pirate and kenady was a sweetheart bat. Stewart has decided we aren't cool enough to trick or treat with so he went with some friends to a haunted house and hung out with his buddies. We hooked up a small trailer to the back of a 4 wheeler and took logan and kenady around to people we knew. The weather was perfect and no wind. Gotta love fall in Vegas. They had a fun night and have waaay to much candy which i will be hiding!

Broken Stewart

Stewart with Gr. and Gr. at LVYO fall concert

I can't believe October is almost over. It is scary how fast time is going. This month has been so busy mainly with Stewart and his Orchestra career. This year he has decided to not only be in advanced orchestra but also play for chambers and Las Vegas Youth Orchestra. I am excited that he wants to be so involved but i also spend alot of time in my car between all the practices and concerts. This week everything came to a screeeching halt when stewart decided to break his hand. When i say decided i mean he had a choice whether or not to break it it. I guess the thing to do in the P.E. locker room is this game where you see how hard you can hit knuckles with other people. It sounds painfully stupid but they are 13 years old, long story short stewart's hand didn't hold up so good. We had an x-ray of it taken this week but it was to swollen to tell. The doctor thinks it may just be a hair line fracture but he still can't move it and they wrapped it all up so you can even see his fingers. Not good because now he can't play his cello and he has a concert today he will be missing, and it happens to be his right hand so doing school work has been difficult. I hope he has learned his lesson. On the good side of things his Orchestra teacher took all the advanced kids to see, Midori, out at Artemus Ham Hall. She is an awesome violinist who has been called one of the most important violinists of our time. It was an awesome concert!Mrs. Smith could only take 4 parents so she put all our names in a hat and mine was picked. How lucky was i! It was fun to go hang out with a bunch of 13 year olds. One girl asked me if i was stewart's sister. It was obviously dark outside but i told her she made my whole year.
THIS IS A PICTURE OF MIDORI

Logan's Mystery Girl

I found this cute little letter in Logan's folder. He said someone left it on his desk one day. I thought how cute it is that someone has a crush on him. I love how she spelled Mystery girl! When i asked him if he knew who it was he said yes. I asked him how he found out and he said he asked every girl in his class. (real smooth Logan) I told him he is too young to like girls and they are nothing but trouble until after his mission. I hope he always believes me! Luckily he is only in 3rd grade and girls are still gross to him.
